Questions/Symptoms
SYMPTOM:Vmotion stalls or freezes when moving data between different storage systems.
Cause
CAUSE:VMware is trying to use VAAI calls which only work within a storage system.
Answer/Solution
FIX:Workaround is to disable the VAAI options while doing the VMotion

Problem occurred when trying to VMotion data from a 3PAR F400 system to a new StoreServ7000 system using ESX 5.x.

VMotion would start and freeze at 10%.

ESX logs show the following errors:

The sense data 0xa (COPY ABORTED) 0xd 0x2 is (0Dh/02h  DTLPWRO A  K    COPY TARGET DEVICE NOT REACHABLE) which is from the VAAI commands.
